A large reinsurer is expanding its operations in Latin America.
Transamerica Reinsurance, Charlotte, N.C., says it is opening Transamerica Re Consultoria em Seguros e Servicos Ltda., a consulting office with addresses in 2 large cities in Brazil, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
The office will manage insurance risk, help develop products and run training programs, according to Transamerica Re., a unit of AEGON N.V., The Hague, Netherlands.
Transamerica Re also has offices in Chile and Mexico.
Ronald Kaufmann, an executive with life and pension reinsurance experience, will be Transamerica Re’s country manager in Brazil, according to Transamerica Re.
