The statement gives information about the cost, dosage, prescribing doctor and pharmacy associated with each prescription.

The statement also tells plan members how much money they are spending on each drug, to help members cope with the Medicare prescription drug “doughnut hole.” As a result of the doughnut hole, ordinary Medicare drug coverage stops at $2,250. A typical Medicare plan member then must pay $2,850 out of pocket before qualifying for catastrophic coverage.
