Pan-American Life Insurance Company has awarded Computer Services Corp. a 7.5-year contract with a value of about $27 million to manage its computer systems and networks.

CSC, El Segundo, Calif., will run Pan-American’s large computers, desktop computers and networks in the United States as well as information systems in Puerto Rico and South America. CSC also will provide English and Spanish-language helpdesk services.

Pan-American was devastated by Hurricane Katrina.

The company has been using CSC systems for 15 years.

After Katrina hit and forced Pan-American to evacuate from New Orleans, CSC helped Pan-American set up a back-up data center in Irving, Texas, and provided workspace for Pan-American employees who were forced to evacuate.
