The Allstate Foundation Hurricane Recovery Fund is seeking grant applications from nonprofit groups that are helping southeastern Texas recover from Hurricane Rita.

The foundation, affiliated with Allstate Corp., Northbrook, Ill., plans to give $200,000 to local agencies in Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, Newton and Orange counties in Texas that are providing community services, such as emergency clean-up services.

Individuals and local chapters of national organizations, such as the American Red Cross, are not eligible to apply for the grants. The Allstate foundation also is excluding organizations that restrict participation on the basis of religion, ethnicity, age or lifestyle.

The applications are due 3 p.m. Jan. 30 in the offices of the Communities Foundation of Texas, Irving, Texas, which is helping the Allstate foundation run the Texas grant program.
