Personnel Changes: Symetra, Securian, MultiPlan

Symetra Life Insurance Company has hired 5 senior executives in an effort to increase sales through financial institutions.

Symetra, Bellevue, Wash., has named Edward Van Hoorebeke national sales manager and senior vice president for the financial institutions division, and it has named James Polhemus to be another senior vice president in the division.

Van Hoorebeke previously was national sales manager at MetLife Investors, a distribution unit of MetLife Inc., New York.

Polhemus was a senior vice president at a life insurance unit of Phoenix Companies Inc., Hartford.

Symetra also has hired Kelly Pappas, Patricia Regan and Bill Walsh to be regional vice presidents.

In other personnel news:

- Randy Wallake is now vice chairman of Minnesota Life Insurance Company, the largest operating subsidiary of Securian Financial Group, St. Paul, Minn.

Wallake runs Securian’s individual financial security and retirement savings business units.

Wallake has a bachelor’s degree from Ohio University and a master’s degree in business from Bowling Green State University.

- MultiPlan Inc., New York, has hired Kevin O’Neill to be vice president of account management.

O’Neill previously was vice president of sales and marketing at Health Insurance Plan of New York, New York.

MultiPlan manages a provider network that includes more than 750,000 providers.
