SBLI USA Mutual Life Insurance Company Inc. is planning to hold a party Jan. 28 to support First Book.

First Book, Washington, is a charity that gives children from poor families a chance to own their first new books.

SBLI USA, New York, also plans to give a portion of the event proceeds to provide books for children affected by Hurricane Katrina.

The keynote speaker at the party will be Ruby Bridges, who, in November 1960, at the age of 6, became the first African-American child to desegregate a formerly all-white elementary school.
