Huffman Rises At Union Central

The board of the Union Central Life Insurance Company has named Gary Huffman to be president and chief operating officer of the company.[@@]

Huffman previously was executive vice president of Union Central, Cincinnati.

Huffman holds the Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant professional designations.

Huffman is scheduled to become president and COO of Union Central Jan. 1, 2006, the date Union Central expects to merge with the Ameritas Acacia Companies, Lincoln, Neb., to form the UNIFI Mutual Holding Company.

The holding company will control Ameritas Life Insurance Corp., Lincoln, Neb.; Acacia Life Insurance Company, Bethesda, Md.; and the Union Central Life Insurance Company, Cincinnati.

John Jacobs will continue to be chairman of Union Central, and he will be vice chairman, president and chief operating officer of UNIFI.

Lawrence Arth, chairman of Ameritas Acacia, will be chairman of UNIFI.
