The international expatriate benefits arm of CIGNA Corp. is trying to fill in gaps for U.S. executives who travel frequently to Indian cities such as Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Calcutta.[@@]

The expat arm at CIGNA Corp., Philadelphia, has signed a deal that calls on the Wockhardt Hospitals Group of India to accept direct payments from CIGNA, so that expatriate patients need not pay for care at time of service.

In addition to accepting direct payments from CIGNA, the Wockhardt hospitals will accept CIGNA’s guarantees of payment for services such as inpatient surgery, CIGNA says.

The Wockhardt hospitals specialize in fields such as cardiology, orthopedics, neurology, minimal access surgery and ophthalmology.
