Wasatch Funds said that Michael W. Gerding, who managed two of its international funds, will leave the company at the end of December.

Gerding has been replaced on the Wasatch International Growth Fund (WAIGX) by Laura Hoffman, who had been an analyst with Wasatch.

Another former company analyst, Blake Walker, replaced Gerding on the team that manages the Wasatch International Opportunities Fund (WAIOX).

The International Growth Fund, which Gerding started running in June 2002, returned 24.2%, on average, for the three years ended in October. Its international small-cap equity fund peers gained 28.9% in that span.

Gerding, who joined Wasatch in 2002, is “evaluating different opportunities” and has not decided on his future plans, a Wasatch spokeswoman said. Prior to joining Wasatch, Gerding was a vice president and portfolio manager with Denver Investment Advisors.

Both the International Growth Fund and the International Opportunities Fund are currently closed to new investors.
