The retirement income fund is aimed at plan members who already are drawing retirement benefits.

Employees of Hartford’s investment management unit will serve as sub-advisors for the funds, but the company also will be using consulting services from Ibbotson Associates Advisors L.L.C., Chicago. Several large financial services firms have started lifecycle fund programs based on Ibbotson asset-allocation principles.

Hartford also is starting The Hartford Select SmallCap Growth Fund, a fund that will be run by outside sub-advisors.
