A Pioneer Passes Away

The financial planning pioneer, author, association leader, and mentor Harold W. Gourgues Jr. died of pancreatic cancer on August 18 at age 67; his funeral Mass was August 27 in Atlanta. His longtime friend, the journalist Sydney LeBlanc, said that Mr. Gourgues in many ways laid the foundation for what is now considered the basis of true financial planning: putting clients’ needs first and using a disciplined approach to meeting those needs
