Pacific Life Insurance Company says Vice Chairman Glenn Schafer plans to retire Dec. 31.[@@]

Schafer, 56, received his current title in April, according to Pacific Life, Newport Beach, Calif. He began working for the company as vice president of corporate finance in 1986.
