Reitan To Run Minnesota Blue

The top executive at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota will be sharing his job with another company executive.[@@]

Dr. Mark Banks, the man who has been the company’s president and chief executive officer, will be keeping the CEO title.

But Banks will be focusing on long-term strategy, and Colleen Reitan will now be the company’s president and chief operating officer, according to Minnesota Blue, Eagan, Minn.

Reitan, who began working for Minnesota Blue in 1982, has been the company’s executive vice president of operations since November 2003.

Reitan has a bachelor of science degree from Minnesota State University- Mankato and a master’s degree in health care administration from the University of Minnesota.

Minnesota Blue has promoted Denise McKenna to succeed Reitan as head of operations. McKenna has been the company’s vice president for enterprise services.

McKenna has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in health care administration from the University of San Francisco.

Minnesota Blue provides or administers health coverage for 2.6 million people.
