Ronald Jensen, chairman and founder of UICI, died in an automobile crash Friday in Irving, Texas, at the age of 74. [@@]

Jensen founded UICI, North Richland Hills, Texas, a life and health insurer, in 1983. UICI sells life and health products designed for students, self-employed individuals, and members of other niche markets.

“Ron was a visionary and guiding light for our company,” says UICI Chief Executive Bill Gedwed.
