WellCare Health Plans Inc today offered details of its 3 Medicare-Medicaid prescription drug plans.[@@]
WellCare, Tampa, Fla., is one of 10 companies approved by the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to provide PDPs nationwide.
WellCare says its plans will offer zero-dollar copays for generic drugs and no deductibles.
All 3 plans feature an extensive CMS-approved list of drugs and the ability to have prescriptions filled at over 40,000 pharmacies nationwide.
WellCare says its Signature plan’s monthly premiums will range from $17.13 to $32.73, depending on the state. It adds these premiums are 30% below the average of other PDPs offered in their respective state.
The other 2 plans, WellCare Complete and WellCare Premier, will provide additional benefits, such as lower brand copays, for a slightly higher plan premium.
There are about 10 million individuals nationwide who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid or who will be qualified to receive financial assistance. For most of these people, CMS approved the WellCare Signature plan to be offered for no monthly plan premium and no coverage gap in 49 states and the District of Columbia.
