Independence Blue Cross says it will give $300,000 over 3 years to 2 clinics in Chester, Pa.

Independence, Philadelphia, will give the donation to ChesPenn Health Services and ChesPenn Eastside Health Center as part of its charitable medical care grant program.

ChesPenn plans to use the grant to provide prescription drugs, lab services and treatments to more uninsured patients, according to Independence.

Independence's grant program provides financial support to 22 nonprofit, privately funded clinics in southeastern Pennsylvania that provide free or low-cost care to the area's uninsured.

Over the past 3 years, Independence has given more than $4 million to local clinics, the company says.
