Alexandra Scott, a 4-year-old girl with neuroblastoma, founded the charity in 2000 to raise money for “her hospital.” She died in 2004, when she was 8. Her charity, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, Wynnewood, Pa., now connects a network of 1,000 lemonade stands. The stands have raised a total of $3.5 million, according to CIGNA, Philadelphia.
