Hooper Holmes Inc. says its top executive has resigned.[@@]

The Basking Ridge, N.J., risk assessment firm announced that James M. McNamee resigned as its chairman, president and chief executive officer, effective immediately.

Benjamin A. Currier, the lead director on the company’s board of directors, was elected chairman and will also serve as the company’s CEO for the time being.

The board will search for a successor to McNamee immediately, according to a company announcement.

McNamee had been with the company since 1968. No reason was given for his departure.

Currier, a retired insurance executive, most recently served as senior vice president of operations for an ING/Barings subsidiary.
