UnitedHealthcare has agreed to work with Jefferson Health System Inc. to offer high-deductible health coverage in the Philadelphia area.[@@]
UnitedHealthcare, a unit of UnitedHealth Group Inc., Minnetonka, Minn., provides or administers health coverage for 275,000 customers in the Philadelphia area.
Jefferson Health, Radnor, Pa., represents several large teaching hospitals and about 10,000 doctors.
Jefferson Health has agreed to participate in the UnitedHealthcare provider network and join in efforts to set up high-deductible health plans suitable for customers with health savings accounts or health reimbursement arrangements, UnitedHealth says.
UnitedHealthcare will start marketing the high-deductible plans Oct. 1. Coverage will take effect Jan. 1, 2006.
