American International Group Inc. has named David Herzog comptroller and Robert Gender treasurer.[@@]

Herzog, who previously was the chief financial officer for AIG’s life operations, will take over the comptroller duties from Steven Bensinger, AIG’s chief financial officer. Bensinger took over comptroller duties from Michael Castelli in January.

Before Herzog began working for AIG, he was an executive at American General Corp., Houston. He ended up at AIG when AIG acquired American General.

Herzog has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a master’s degree in finance from the University of Chicago. He holds the Certified Public Accountant and Fellow, Life Management Institute, professional designations.

Gender began working for AIG in 1998, as director of financial analysis in its treasury department, and he has been assistant treasurer since 2000. He is assuming the duties of the treasurer from Bensinger, who served as treasurer before getting the CFO title.

Gender has a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and a master’s degree in finance from New York University.
