New Jersey insurance regulators are putting together an electronic medical records system that they say will help improve health care and cut its cost.[@@]

The New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance has established a task force to establish the system and convert existing patient data to electronic form to reduce medical errors, eliminate unnecessary tests and allow physicians to share patient records.

The task force will work to implement the system with the state’s Department of Health and Senior Services.
