Lawmakers already have started preparing to recognize the importance of life insurance in September.[@@]

The Senate Judiciary Committee now is considering Senate Concurrent Resolution 19, a resolution that would designate September 2005 as “Life Insurance Awareness Month.”

The resolution, introduced by Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., and Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., declares that life insurance is “an essential part of a sound financial plan” and “recognizes and supports the goals and ideals” of the Life and Health Insurance Foundation for Education, Washington, and other groups and companies that organize the Life Insurance Awareness Month program.

The House also is considering the joint resolution.
