An Allentown, Pa., long term care insurer hopes to increase sales in the Northeast.[@@]

The insurer, Penn Treaty American Corp., says it has received approval from the Connecticut Partnership for Long-Term Care to sell its Personal Freedom 3 LTC insurance plan as a partnership program product.

The partnership encourages consumers to buy private LTC coverage by offering easy access to Medicaid LTC benefits for residents who buy qualified private LTC policies and end up exhausting the private LTC benefits.

Penn Treaty says it believes its Connecticut partnership product offers more underwriting classes than other Connecticut partnership LTC products.
