A large insurer has released a new menu of offerings for small and midsize employers.[@@]

AIG American General, Neptune, N.J., a unit of American International Group Inc., New York, says it already has obtained approvals for the new product line in 33 states.

The menu includes group life insurance, group long-term disability, group short-term disability, group dental, group vision and group accidental death and dismemberment coverage.

The new offerings include maximum group life issue amounts of up to 5 times the employee’s salary; an option for employers to bundle AD&D coverage with term life insurance or offer a voluntary, stand-alone plan for groups of at least 10 insureds; and a collection of return-to-work programs for LTD claimants.

AIG American General also is offering employers a Web-based medical underwriting tracking system; special checking accounts for insurance beneficiaries; and a language line that can help translate questions and answers for employees who are uncomfortable with English.
