Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc., New York, is changing the way it organizes its human resources and management consulting practices.[@@]

Peter Coster, the president of Marsh & McLennan’s Mercer Inc. consulting unit, is acting on earlier plans to retire after 40 years with Mercer, according to Marsh & McLennan.

Brian Storms, who has been vice chairman of Mercer Human Resource Consulting, will be president of a revamped Mercer Human Resource Consulting, which will include Mercer HR’s core consulting practices and new outsourcing and investment units.

David Morrison, who has been president of Mercer Management Consulting Inc., will lead a group of specialty consulting businesses.

Storms and Morrison both will report directly to Michael Cherkasky, president of Marsh & McLennan.

Marsh & McLennan, which has been hit hard by the recent wave of broker compensation investigations is making the change to “streamline accountability” and keep executives close to the markets they serve, company executives say.
