A Lancaster, S.C., insurer has introduced a long term care insurance policy.[@@]

The insurer, Kanawha Insurance Company, says its new SecureFuture LTC product combines a base indemnity policy with optional home health care riders, an informal care benefit that can pay 50% of the daily home health care benefit, and a benefit access feature that provides interchangeable benefits for facility care and home health care combining them to form one pool of benefit dollars.

The policy also offers a stay-at-home benefit, which can pay for home modifications and durable medical equipment; a shared care rider for husbands and wives; a 10% couple discount; and a 20% preferred health discount.
