John Hancock Names Wealth Management Strategist

Manulife Financial Corp., Toronto, is beefing up its executive team in Boston.[@@]

The company’s John Hancock Financial Services Inc. unit has named Joe Scott vice president of strategic initiatives for U.S. wealth management.

One of Scott’s jobs will be overseeing the integration of the wealth management businesses of John Hancock and Manulife, which merged in April 2004.

Scott previously was a vice president of U.S. group pension distribution at Manulife.

Scott, who has been working at Manulife since 1970, has a master’s degree in business from York University. He holds the Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant professional designations.
