A Woodland Hills, Calif., managed care company has named a permanent head for the arm that serves the New York area.[@@]

The company, Health Net Inc., has promoted Steven Hale Nelson to president of Health Net of the Northeast, Shelton, Conn.

Nelson succeeds Jeff Folick, who has been serving as the unit’s interim president since February 2004. Folick also has been executive vice president of Health Net’s regional health plans and specialty companies unit, and Folick will continue to hold that post.

Nelson has been chief operating officer of Health Net of the Northeast since June 2004. He previously was a senior vice president in Health Net’s senior products division.

Nelson has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Portland State University. He has a master’s degree in health services administration and a master’s degree in business from the University of Michigan.
