Life Insurer Elevates President

Mutual of Omaha has given Daniel Neary the titles of chairman and chief executive officer.[@@]

Neary, who has served as president of the Omaha, Neb., insurer since August 2003, succeeds John Weekly as chairman.

Weekly died Dec. 17 at age 73.

Neary will be Mutual of Omaha’s fifth chairman. The other leaders of the 95-year-old company have been C.C. Criss, the founder; V.J. Skutt; and Thomas Skutt.

Neary, who began working for Mutual of Omaha in 1975 as an actuary, has bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Iowa. He is a member of the boards of America’s Health Insurance Plans, Washington, and the Strategic Air & Space Museum.
