A Greensboro, N.C., insurer and broadcasting company says its top executive is relinquishing day-to-day management responsibilities.[@@]

David Stonecipher, the chairman of Jefferson-Pilot Corp., will become a “non-executive chairman” of the company Dec. 31, Jefferson-Pilot says.

Stonecipher became chief executive officer of Jefferson-Pilot in 1993 and chairman in 1998. He handed the title of CEO to Dennis Glass earlier this year.
