A large insurer is expanding its menu of high-deductible plans for Golden State residents.[@@]

Aetna Inc., Hartford, has added 3 plans for small employers that are compatible with the health savings account programs.

The plans are aimed at employers with 2 to 50 employees.

Aetna already includes one HSA-compatible plan for small employers, but the new plans are different because families can begin getting coverage for services other than preventive care once one family member meets that individual’s deductible, Aetna says.

Most other HSA-compatible plans require a family to meet a family deductible before collecting benefits, Aetna says.
