Star HRG, Phoenix, is introducing a new mini medical program.[@@]

The new Starbridge Choices program is a limited-benefit plan for part-time workers, temporary workers, low-income workers and other workers who lack access to employer-sponsored health coverage.

Members get access to a discount medical network along with small amounts of medical insurance and prescription drug insurance. Members also get access to an employee assistance program and a 24-hour toll-free nurse advice line.

A Web site gives plan members the ability to look up discount network doctors and get claims information.

Workers can choose between 3 levels of coverage, and employers can decide between paying all, some or none of the premiums.

Star HRG, a unit of UICI, North Richland Hills, Texas, reports that it already provides mini medical coverage and other types of coverage for 350,000 American workers.
