NEW YORK (HedgeWorld.com)–Anthony Conroy has joined BNY Brokerage, a subsidiary of The Bank of New York, as managing director and head trader.

Mr. Conroy comes from Merrill Lynch Investment Management, where he was managing director and head trader at the hedge fund unit for the past five years. The group managed US$1 billion in hedge fund assets and US$50 billion in total alternative investments.

His past positions include head of equity trading at Bankers Trust Asset Management

Group and co-head of trading at Soros Fund Management.

“We’re delighted to add him to our senior management team at a time when we’ve consolidated several key acquisitions and established ourselves as a premier agency brokerage,” commented Carey Pack, president of BNY Brokerage, in a statement. He added that Mr. Conroy would increase buy-side awareness of the firm’s full complement of services.

“BNY Brokerage’s range of top-notch trading services is the best-kept secret

on Wall Street,” Mr. Conroy said, in a statement. “Their strategic acquisitions and

innovative use of technology have created an impressive package of trading

options for clients.”
