A large Louisville, Ky., health insurer is building health savings account services from a New York bank into its new HSA program.[@@]

Humana Inc. is getting into the HSA market by introducing HumanaOne, a high-deductible health plan for individual customers.

Customers can buy HumanaOne health coverage and open an HSA at J.P. Morgan Chase & Company by filling out a single application form.

Humana expects to add an HSA program for employers in 2005.

Humana’s partner, J.P. Morgan, also is providing HSA services for the HSA programs at Anthem Inc., Indianapolis; CIGNA Corp., Philadelphia; and WellPoint Health Networks Inc., Thousand Oaks, Calif.

The Humana-J.P. Morgan agreement includes access to a Visa debit card network as well as basic account management services.
