American and British companies are joining to develop international quality standards for crisis support services.[@@]

The “critical incident response” services, included in many employee assistance programs, are supposed to help employers hit by earthquakes, hurricanes, terrorist attacks and other disasters.

Crisis Care Network Inc., San Francisco, a U.S. crisis support company, and ICAS International, Milton Keynes, England, a mental health care management firm, say they will be coming up with crisis support services standards with a group of researchers and experienced crisis support workers.

Goals will include making the crisis support programs more resilient and coming up with methods for assessing the need for clinical care, the companies say.

Eventually, Crisis Care and ICAS would like to see the rise of a critical incident response accreditation program, the companies say.
