AIG Unit Hires Son Of Bud Wilkinson

A major retirement services vendor has added a football star to its executive roster.[@@]

AIG Retirement Services Inc., Los Angeles, has hired Jay Wilkinson to be executive vice president, group acquisitions, at AIG VALIC.

Wilkinson, who previously was director of third-party distribution in North America for INVESCO, Denver, will be responsible for helping AIG VALIC make more sales to schools and hospitals.

Wilkinson will report to Bruce Abrams, president of AIG VALIC.

AIG VALIC is a unit of American International Group Inc., New York.

Wilkinson has a bachelor’s degree from Duke University and a bachelor’s degree in divinity from Episcopal Theological School. He played for Duke’s football team. In 1963, he was a First-Team All-American player and the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year.

Wilkinson’s father, Bud Wilkinson, coached the University of Oklahoma Sooners football team to 47 straight wins between 1953 and 1963. Jay Wilkinson published a biography of his father, “Bud Wilkinson: an Intimate Portrait of an American Legend,” in 1994.
