The National Association of Elder Law Attorneys, Tucson, Ariz., has formed a New York chapter.[@@]

The chapter president of NAELA-NY will be Vincent Russo, a Westbury, N.Y., lawyer.

Other officers of the new NAELA chapter include Bernard Krooks, vice president; Daniel Fish, treasurer; and Lawrence Davidow, secretary.

The national NAELA was founded in 1988 to improve legal services for the elderly. The New York chapter of NAELA now represents 157 of the national group’s 350 New York members, according to Russo.

One of the New York chapter’s first lobbying priorities will be fighting efforts to change the way the New York Medicaid programs handle Medicaid benefits for the elderly.
