The Phoenix Companies Inc. has appointed Christopher R. Walsh as managing director for subadvisory and retirement accounts.[@@]

The company, in Hartford, says it created the position as part of an initiative to build its institutional business. Phoenix announced plans in June to expand its share of the Taft-Hartley public and subadvisory markets.

Walsh had been previously with CDC IXIS Asset Management. He will report to Amy Fisher, president, institutional markets for the company’s asset management subsidiary, Phoenix Investment Partners, Ltd.
