NEW YORK (HedgeWorld.com)–The upcoming capital-introduction conference in London organized by Jane Halsey will showcase a preponderance of long/short managers who focus on certain parts of the world.

Of the 14 presenters, four trade in European markets, three in U.S. markets, one in China, one in Argentine debt and one broadly in emerging markets. Funds that specialize in volatility trading, convertible and volatility arbitrage, and managed futures and currency make up the rest.

Emerging markets are one of the few areas that are creating outsized returns at this time, said Ms. Halsey. Geoffrey Symonds, the keynote speaker at the Oct. 5 London forum, will talk about opportunities in emerging markets. Currently director of GLC International Advisors Ltd. in London, he once was emerging markets portfolio manager at Steinhardt Management Company Inc.

The semi-annual Halsey forums reflect the interests of institutional investors, due to input from an investor committee in selecting managers for each event. Application is open to all managers regardless of prime brokerage affiliation, but the managers chosen to present have to pay for speaking.

Past forums were well attended by institutional investors and provided pointers as to questions of interest to investors (see Previous HedgeWorld Story).
