The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is seeking nominations for members for the Medicare Coverage Advisory Committee.[@@]

The committee advises Medicare administrators on topics such as medical services and technology. Because Medicare has such a big influence on the U.S. health care system, the committee’s recommendations can have an indirect effect on the private health insurance system.

The advisory committee consists of a pool of 100 appointed members, including 88 voting members, 6 non-voting consumer advocates and 6 non-voting industry advocates. CMS is advertising for nominations because a few committee members usually drop off the committee each year, CMS says.

Members can be specialists in health care economics and health care administration as well as subjects such as clinical medicine and public health.

More information about the nomination process is on the Web at http://a257.g.akamaitech.net/7/257/2422/06jun20041800/edocket.access.gpo.gov/2004/04-21200.htm
