The Employee Benefit Research Institute, Washington, is working with its local ABC affiliate, WJLA-ABC 7, to promote retirement savings.[@@]

EBRI staff members will work the telephones at Channel 7 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 7 to answer viewers’ questions about 401(k) plans.

EBRI also is helping Channel 7 develop a half-hour retirement savings special that will appear on the channel at 9 p.m. Sept. 8. The “Happily Ever After” special will cover topics such as the importance of retirement savings, retirement investment strategies and long term care insurance.

EBRI and Channel 7 newscasters are promoting the “Happily Ever After” special with the slogan, “Plan and save now?or work forever.”

In addition to reaching consumers, the show could have extra influence by reaching members of Congress, federal regulators, and lawmakers’ and regulators’ families.
