Kentucky Gov. Ernie Fletcher has named Martin Koetters executive director of the state’s Office of Insurance.[@@]

Koetters is a property-casualty agent who has 34 years of experience in the insurance industry. He has been working as a senior account executive at Neace Lukens Inc., Louisville, Ky., a large regional insurance brokerage firm.

Koetters has a bachelor’s degree in business and economics from Xavier University. He holds the Charter Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate Risk Management (ARM) designations.

Koetters replaces Janie Miller, who resigned as insurance commissioner in November 2003. Miller has been working for the state’s Legislative Research Commission.
