The National Association of Health Underwriters, Arlington, Va., has picked John Nelson to be president elect and installed Trei Wild as president.[@@]

NAHU represents more than 20,000 professional health insurance agents and brokers.

Nelson, who will take over in 2005, is vice president of Warner Pacific Insurance Services, Westlake Village, Calif., a large health insurance general agency.

Wild is the president of Safeguard Dental and Vision Plans of Texas Inc., a unit of SafeGuard Health Enterprises Inc., Aliso Viejo, Calif. Wild, who joined NAHU in 1986, says he expects NAHU to continue to promote refundable health insurance tax credits and health insurance pools for consumers who have serious health problems.

NAHU also will continue to fight health insurance coverage mandates and to promote campaigns to educate the public about products such as long term care insurance, Wilson says.

Other 2004-2005 NAHU officers include Dave Fear, the vice president; Beth Ashmore, the treasurer, and Scott Leavitt, the secretary.
