MetLife Inc., New York, has lost one of its most famous board members because he is returning to public life.[@@]

Former U.S. Sen. John Danforth, a Missouri Republican, has resigned because he is taking over as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Danforth joined the MetLife board in 2000.
