The board of MetLife Inc., New York, has named C. Robert Henrikson president of the company and named Lisa Weber president of individual business.[@@]

Henrikson also will be MetLife’s chief operating officer. The position of president and the position of chief operating officer are both new positions for MetLife, the company says.

Henrikson has been president of MetLife’s U.S. insurance and financial services businesses since 2002, and his duties included running the individual business, MetLife says.

Henrikson also was in charge of Met Life’s institutional business and MetLife Bank unit. He now will have responsibility for the company’s auto, home and international units, and he also will oversee the State Street Research & Management Company unit, MetLife says.

Henrikson has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a law degree from Emory University. He is the chairman of the S.S. Huebner Foundation for Insurance Education at the University of Pennsylvania’s business school.

Weber has been MetLife’s chief administrative officer since 2001. She has been responsible for auditing, communications, human resources, corporate ethics and compliance.

Before Weber began working for MetLife, she spent more than 10 years at PaineWebber Inc., New York.

Weber has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
