NU Online News Service, May 26, 2004, 1:37 p.m. EDT – Penn Treaty American Corp., Allentown, Pa., has introduced a long term care insurance policy that comes with a built-in indemnity home care benefit.[@@]

The new Personal Freedom III policy pays for home care provided by family members as well as other private caregivers. Policyholders who use the indemnity option can get the benefits directly and spend the cash however they want to spend it.

Penn Treaty notes that it uses 4 underwriting classes when evaluating LTC applicants. That underwriting system helps the company offer coverage to a relatively high percentage of applicants, the company says.
