NU Online News Service, May 11, 2004, 12:18 p.m. EDT – The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., Hartford, has confirmed that Richard Mucci will continue to run the group benefits division at its Hartford Life unit.[@@]

Mucci, who is now an executive vice president at Hartford, has been running the benefits division since June 2003, when Liz Zlatkus, his predecessor, took over as chief financial officer of Hartford Life.

Hartford Financial recently completed the acquisition of a large group benefits operation from CNA Financial Corp., Chicago. Mucci has been overseeing the integration of the old CNA benefits business with Hartford’s own benefits business, Hartford says.

Mucci will continue to run Hartford’s group life and disability insurance, specialty products and medical stop loss lines of business, Hartford says.

Mucci began working for Hartford Life as director of employer markets at the group benefits division in March 2002. He previously was a senior vice president and manager of the individual disability business at Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, Springfield, Mass.

Mucci has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Boston College. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.
