NU Online News Service, April 28, 2004, 2:37 p.m. EDT – An insurance unit of Prudential Financial Inc., New York, might get a higher financial strength rating from Moody’s Investors Service, New York.[@@]

Moody’s is putting the A1 rating of Pru’s Prudential Insurance Company of America subsidiary on review for possible upgrade.

The review will focus on the changes to the company’s financial profile that have taken place over the recent past and will assess the potential for additional earnings growth and capital generation, Moody’s says.

The review will include the effects of regulatory investigations, acquisitions and divestitures, the rebound in the stock and debt markets, and the company’s ongoing expense reductions, Moody’s adds.
