The company’s group insurance unit and foundation are donating $15,000 to The Center for Grieving Children, Portland, Maine.

The center was founded in 1987 to support children who are grieving over the deaths of parents, siblings, friends and other loved ones. The center also helps children who know that their loved ones are suffering from life-threatening illnesses.

The center will use Aetna’s grant to support a volunteer training program. The center also will use the grant to inform doctors, teachers and others about ways to support children who are grieving or suffering loss.
