NU Online News Service, March 30, 2004, 1:36 p.m. EST – Robert Mittel is about to return to the bank side of the insurance business.[@@]

Mittel says he will leave Inviva Inc., New York, to head insurance operations at Independence Community Bank Corp., Brooklyn, N.Y., April 12.

Mittel has been director of business development at Inviva, a company that has come up with new strategies for selling annuities and life insurance through the Web.

Independence Community is a midsize bank holding company.

Mittel previously was national sales manager of Dime Insurance Group, a unit of Dime Savings Bank, Islandia, N.Y. He moved to Inviva from Dime in 2002, soon after Dime was bought by Washington Mutual Inc., Seattle.
